With the birdman in tow, the party searches the city of New Leeran, once again, for Bae'el. They find Bae'el and offer the birdman up to him as a snack, but this action draws the attention of a group of Zianoghr mech pilots. Using wits, and magical items, Astryn finds a way inside the mech suit to battle the pilot directly, allowing the party to focus on finding Eythor's wife, Aerwyna.

The Gate Keepers, minus Harold, sneak into the city of New Leeran to find Bae'el, and put a stop to Aerwyna's plots. The party finds Bae'el, who pays them no mind as he is busy fighting Theocracy troops. They also witness Serenity chase a bird man into a building before being shot, and the bird man running away. Believing the bird man to be important, they intercept the bird and, under the guise of being Theocracy agents, they deliver him to his laboratory. Using subterfuge, they lure the bird man to the roof, hoping he will spill his secrets.

The party makes another round through the shops of the Canvas Exchange, buying and trading in both coin and information. Details emerge from the hushed gossip of the shopkeepers of a mysterious man who, over the previous week, had purchased a series of interesting items, though by themselves might have seemed commonplace. This led them to a cave east of the docks. Here they hoped to glean the answers they sought from the shadowy interior of the caves.

The Gate Keepers follow Bae'ell as he plumets to the surface of Worgixaera after his escape from the Zianoghr destroyer. With some quick thinking they are able to defeat the enemy troop, but Bae'ell begins a trek to the capitol city while the others decide to stop a train.
